The Wendigo Woods
In Algonquian folk lore a Wendigo is a failed person who has become a terrible monster, eternally hungry and obsessed with consuming human flesh. It ranged across the dark of the northwoods from the Atlantic to the Great Lakes. The last known of these boreal Wendigos was killed in 1907. The beast is strongly associated with deep night, coldness, and starvation; I think you'll find that barren bleakness represented across the musical work here. In the muddied blackness of midnight, it can be hard to tell the howl of a winter wind from something more sinister. |
Frank Cademartori
Frank Cademartori of the “brilliant American singer/songwriter duo” Tiger Summer, was “a staple for Cheonan's burgeoning music scene.” He's been described as making "the perfect music for people who like their coffee black and whiskey straight." He has a penchant for an honest, untutored, and simple sound. A nod to Guthrie and the unknowns recorded by Alan Lomax, Cademartori's unique and original take on Americana is just another notch on the belt of a beautiful and complex genre. He eschews overly polished recordings, finding them tedious and stripping music of raw sound and feeling. Most of his recordings are completed in a single take, sans click track, rife with human error, allowing both his personality as well as the strength of the music to shine through. Receiving a BS in Music Business from Elmhurst College, working in radio, at various labels around his hometown of Chicago, and as a mailman; he currently teaches 21st Century Music and Audio Engineering on Chicago's northwest side. |
Scratchpad Recordings
These are pretty much exactly what they sound like: my rough notes and ideas documented. Far from a perfectionist, the tedious rigors of traditional recording always left me bored and broke, not to mention with a flat sounding product. Ask me to play an original song for you, and I'll perform it with the passion and gusto of the day I wrote it, but ask me to perform it ten times in a row and you will be left with a impassive shell of a song. Almost all of the songs on my first release were written and recorded in around one hour's time. Every single instrument and every vocal line is me, and no one else. There isn't any editing beyond level adjustments, and absolutely no added effects. This is me, this is who I am and the music you hear sounds like the music that I played the day it was made. Just honest and simple songs with heart. Listen Here: https://trackdmusic.com/wendigowoods/ |
